I have never seen such a clean, quiet, unspoiled (all the adjectives you can think about being immaculate and perfect) beach like this! I wish it would stay as fresh as its existing condition until the end of time, now that it’s not a secret anymore.
Heat index is now escalating quickly. Time to beat the summer heat and chill. But what if your budget is tighter than your skinny jeans? One of my coworkers just helped me loosen up and resolve that when she suggested me this not so famous, almost unheard beach in Bataan.
Westnuk Beach Resort was a former private property now government owned beach found inside the vicinity of Philippine Nuclear Power Plant. Sounds scary? The road was kinda tricky but as long as you reached the power plant, guards will help you find your way there. Have faith. LOL
All the jitters you felt while navigating to the rocky, middle-of-nowhere destination will instantly ebb away once you see that freaking oasis-like paradise. Ugh!
A guard and caretakers will welcome you as soon as you reach the resort. The caretaker explained that the resort’s electricity has been interrupted and cut for 3 months already that’s why they can’t accommodate overnight stays at the moment. They can’t even answer calls and emails due to power loss. We went there as walk-in guests and we were really happy that all the risks that we took was worth it! Good thing too was that we only planned for a day tour trip.
Day tour cost us Php160/head and Php150 for the medium sized cottage. Oh, good Lord!
Upon seeing the beach, all I ever said to the caretaker was: “Kuya, sobrang ganda! Naiiyak ako…”
The caretaker was really proud too of this gem he was taking care of. And as I quote from him, “Eto ang maipagmamalaki namin. Nakakapanghinayang lang na konti lang sa mga taga-Bataan ang may alam, at masdinadayo pa ng mga taga-Manila or tulad niyong malayo pa ang pinanggalingan.”
When he said that, I can’t help but think that it would be best if this place could be kept discreet as long as it can be. Call me selfish, but you would feel the same way if you see this the way we did. Frankly speaking but in my humble opinion, it was way more beautiful than any beach I have ever been. So peaceful but at least there were nets for you to play in case you get bored. Just don’t forget to bring your own volleyballs.
Low-key beauty, subtle fame, humble atmosphere. I have no more words to express how perfect this place is. How many times did I say it was perfect?
